So as it’s now officially autumn in Australia, I got into the baking spirit and decided to make some autumn styled dog cookies!
They’re super easy to make, take very few ingredients and make your house smell like cinnamon doughnuts! Plus your dogs will LOVE them!
We made a full video on our YouTube channel TheDogBlog, so check that out too!
So to start off, here are the ingredients you will need:
- 3/4 cup of uncooked (not instant) oats
- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of hot water
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup of whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
Start off by adding the oats, oil and hot water into a large mixing bowl, and mix together.
Once that’s combined, add in the egg, whole wheat flour and cinnamon and continue to mix until you have a stiff dough mixture.
Turn your dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
Then, with a rolling pin, roll your dough to about 1cm thick. With a cookie cutter of your choice, cut out your cookies.
Place the cookies on a baking papered tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 150C or 300F for 1 hour and 25 minutes. The cookies should be crunchy, dry and slightly browned on top.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes or until they aren’t hot anymore, store in a container/ jar in the fridge or pantry.
